Sorry folks, but it's cancelled.

Well well well, lots of developments
in the past few days, not all of them good I'm afraid.

I had a brief voicemail yesterday from Steve Chambers, which just said "Slick, it's Steve, Friday's off, bye".  I couldn't get hold of him back straightaway so I did manage get hold of Glyn and the story is that well, to cut a long story short, the Help for Heroes event is cancelled because it didn't sell many tickets, that's all there to it really.

As a lead on from that, when I did manage to speak to Chambo today he said that everybody is absolutely gutted that the event giving an opportunity to a Gents reunion, having put all the energy into several rehearsals having not played together for 21 years and being what you might call up to match fitness.

I don't know what any arrangements are for refunds for anybody who has bought tickets, sorry about that.

Having said all that, and having had heart-to-heart telephone conversation with Chambo, he seems to be of the mind that maybe we can turn this unfortunate series of events to our advantage.  I am going to see Steve and Glyn at their Men's Club gig on Saturday and the idea that is going to be discussed is one of putting on a be-all-and-end all Gents gig as a one-off, probably in Doncaster, if for nothing else to gauge what any level of interest in seeing the band again might be.  A venue that has been suggested as possibly the most suitable, both from the point of both size and credibility might be the Leopard in Doncaster.

As I say, it seems like this could be an exciting opportunity to turn the unfortunate cancellation to our advantage and put on a great reunion gig for people who remember the band and would like to see them once again, so we'll see what we can bring of it.

All I can really say at this point is watch this space and any news to report will be instantly reported here on www.thegents.org.uk, the official and endorsed website of the Gents and their legacy.
