The Gent b/w Over Me/Revenge - 1982

Single release number 3, the band's signature tune, The Gent, with Over Me and the Abbey Road version of Revenge on the flipside.  A vastly underrated song Over Me, a quality little pop song and hidden away on a b-side.

This single was released at probably the one time in the band's history that they were closest to making it, whatever that means...they even performed The Gent on BBC Look North, complete with Frank Brooker on sax and all resplendent in bowler hats and all that malarkey etc, at around the same time as the infamous appearance on Look North's Bubbling Under, a showcase type thing on BBC North, where a shedload of Gents mods turned up and did quite a lot of fighting, mainly against Knife Edge's crowd (Knife Edge were the Leeds punk band who lost to the Gents at EMI Supergroup in 1981!)
