7" Friday on my Mind b/w Have a Good Time

12" Friday on my Mind b/w Have a Good Time/Dogshit Blues

The last Gents single, and quite early really, when you think that it was still 1986 and it was not until February 1989 when the final gig took place and the band dissolved.  Friday on my Mind of course was a hit in the 1960s for Australian band the Easybeats and was also covered by David Bowie on his covers album Pinups.  Possibly a poor choice for a single, another cover and a stop/start piece of music which in the dancefloor dominated late-80s was never going to have much appeal to the record-buying public.  Being the last single the band issued, maybe this was about the time where the writing started going on the wall for the Gents' very existence.

Watch out for the opening notes of Revenge in the middle of the 12" version.  Clever cross-referencing etc...

Another two live favourites recorded for the b-side, Have a Good Time, which dated back to almost day one and Abbey Road, and comedy song Dogshit Blues, about dogs shitting on Martin's lawn in Denaby near Mexborough...strangely enough.  Used to go down very well at the shows.
